At Alive In Christ, we believe in establishing "relationships for life". If you are looking for a place to serve using your God-given gifts or if you are seeking a small group to be a part of, please explore our ministry opportunities below.

Outreach Ministries:
The outreach board involves many members of Alive In Christ with several ministry opportunities to fulfill it's mission of reaching the lost and equipping them to live for the glory of Jesus Christ

Loaves and Fishes…On Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:15, many prepare and serve an entire meal to the homeless at the downtown Loaves and Fishes organization. Organizing the cooks is Gisela Garbut. There are a number of different cooks and helpers including Mary Clark, Betty Kreutzer, Carla Vogel and Carla Rumpf. The group became involved in this ministry because Jesus shows us by example that we should be a servant to all and that we are to love our neighbor. (More......)

Newcomers Connection:
What is Newcomer's Connection? Newcomer's Connection is a Christ-centered ministry developed to equip women who have recently moved to the Columbia community with the ability to jump back in the saddle, adjust to their new surroundings and move forward.

Many women feel isolated and lonely upon arrival to an unfamiliar community. (The two women who were instrumental in starting this class both experienced these emotions). "This class has literally transformed women," stated Jan Hoemann, a Newcomer's Connection instructor. Newcomer's Connection offers a support group which includes a diverse group of women and childcare is provided.

Where do classes meet and how often?
This class is offered every fall, begining in September, at Alive In Christ Lutheran Church at 201 Southhampton Road, Columbia at 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays and last approximately one hour. .

How long does the class last?
The class lasts for 13 weeks and focuses on the topics of "Grief . . . Letting Go", "Starting Over" and "Moving ahead". The next class begins on Thursday, Sept. 9th.

How much do classes cost?
There is no charge for classes. A nominal fee is charged for the book entitled "After the Boxes are Unpacked . . . Moving on After Moving in" by Susan Miller and a donation is accepted for the childcare.

Small Group Ministries:
The Care Group Ministry of Alive in Christ goes hand in hand with the church slogan . . . "Relationships for life". It is the desire at Alive in Christ that all members are plugged in to a "Care Group". A Care Group is a small group of people who meet on a regular basis to study God's word and have fellowship (fun) with each other. Care groups are all about strengthening the relationship we have with our Lord and Savior and our relationships with each other. What better source to understand how to do this, than to look at Christ? The following acronym can help explain the basic meaning of Care Groups.

It is exciting to see how relational (and loving) our God is. To help experience this, Alive in Christ has several care groups. To learn more please contact the church at office@aic.org or call the church at 573-499-0443.

Caring and Fellowship:
The Martha Ministry provides assistance to Alive In Christ church families during both sad and joyous times in their lives--whether it be at a time someone suffers the loss of a loved one or a new mom coming home from the hospital. Those helping with this ministry may be asked to provide meals, chauffeur, help with laundry, shopping, lawn mowing or babysitting services.

Sherri Twaddle organizes the ministry for "new moms" to make the first couple of weeks after mom's arrival home a little smoother.

Pat Miller manages the Martha Ministry for families who are dealing with health issues, death in the family or for those who have other needs.

This Ministry is uplifting to both the giver and the receiver and is open to any member of Alive In Christ who wishes to serve.

  Red Hat Society…
The Red Hat Society (RHS) is a group of women 50 years of age and older, who meet monthly for lunch. They must however, be robed with red hats and purple dresses. (pink hats and lavender dresses for women who have not yet turned 50). The purpose of the Red Hat Society is to have fun and fellowship with others. There are no rules or dues.

The meetings are held the first Friday of each month at 11:30 at pre-announced locations. For more information, feel free to contact the church office at 573-499-0443 or Pat Miller.
